SteamPrint has started back in 2015 under a different name as a steampunk and leather accessories shop. It has since grown into what it is today – a small but proud local Canaidan business with its main focus being cosplay and video game props and accessories.
The first step towards this metamorphosis was when Mike designed his own custom chess set and decided he absolutely has to have it produced one way or another. Not even for sale, but for his own use. Being an independent enthusiastic creative, he settled on 3D printing and bought his own DIY printer kit. The small printer set up in the living room started buzzing away, producing one chess set after another.
That was a little over a year ago. Now the spare bedroom has been converted into maker lab with 4 3D printers producing dozens of custom made props for hundreds of happy customers all over the world. We have buyers more or less everywhere, from North America, to UK, France and Germany and even all the way to Australia and New Zealand. What started as a small one-man operation and an etsy shop has now grown in scale to a still small but international scale business.
